A NEW resource will soon be available to local historians in Tenbury and the Teme Valley.

A big step will be taken by an ambitious local project to record the history of the Worcestershire villages of Little Witley and Great Witley when the Witleys’ Oral History Group launches an interactive website.

The group, which was formed in 2013, formally launched the project in January 2014 with the support of a grant of £20,600 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

Led by volunteers from the local community, the group has been recording interviews with a wide range of people who live or have lived in the area.

Volunteers have now developed the systems for editing and filing the recordings and have also collected photographs, other memorabilia, and text content about the villages.

Visitors to the website can now see the project in action online at www.witleysoralhistory.org and find news about the project, view the group’s archive and see the range of subjects that the group intends to cover.
