LUDLOW environmentalists are already starting preparing for their festival at the end of August.

Ludlow Local Agenda has appointed Elizabeth Anne Williams co-ordinator for 2015 Ludlow Green Festival.

The town’s Big Green Event has provided a focus for green initiatives, suppliers and organisations in a festive atmosphere for nearly 20 years.

This year's event was a great success but the board of Ludlow 21 felt the need to employ a co-ordinator to ensure the future success of the event in a competitive festival market.

Elizabeth Anne Williams helped with the 2014 event and is well-known in Ludlow for her work at the Assembly Rooms, at Stokesay Court and with cycling initiatives. She has recently played a major role in organising the visit of an international youth orchestra and a West Midlands Cultural Olympiad.

However, before arriving in Ludlow she used her arts based background to develop the Seifton Park Palm House and a Visual Arts Biennial in Liverpool.

She hopes to use this experience to bring new exciting ideas to Ludlow's Green Festival and plan developments for 2016 to ensure Ludlow maintains its festival reputation but at the same time encourages a greener life style.

Ludlow 21 is involved in a range of environmental initiatives in and around the town including encouraging cycling and recycling. The Green Festival that takes places on the Sunday of the Bank Holiday August weekend is the major event in its annual programme and attracts visitors from throughout the West Midlands.
