MORE than 400 firearms were handed in during a two week amnesty across the West Mercia police area that included Ludlow and south Shropshire.
The step was taken to reduce the potential for weapons falling into the wrong hands.
During a two week period, that ended on Sunday, people were allowed to hand in weapons with no questions asked although police reserved the right to carry out tests on any guns that they had reason to believe may have been used in crime.
