THIS year the Remembrance Day services will fall in the year of the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.

In Ludlow there will be a parade of uniformed groups that will leave Ludlow Castle for St Laurence's Church at 10.30am on Sunday.

The service of remembrance will be led by the Venerable Colin Williams and will include the playing of the last post by Paul Kemp, the deputy mayor of Ludlow.

During the service at St Laurence’s Church, wreaths will be laid by the mayor, Royal British Legion, Royal Air Force Association and Royal Naval Association at the town’s war memorial located in the church porch.

Ludlow Town Concert Band, conducted by musical director Colin Reeves, will play a repertoire of marching music to accompany the parade to church, and afterwards the parade to the memorial in Market Square for wreath laying

During the parades and wreath laying at the Market Square Memorial, temporary road closures will be in place at King Street, Broad Street, Castle Street Car Park, and Dinham and Mill Street at approximately 10.20am to 11am and 11.45am to 12.30pm.

In Tenbury a parade will meet up in the car park of the former auction yard at 10am. This will include representatives from Tenbury High School.

It will make its way to St Mary’s Church for a service and the laying of wreaths at 11am.

The Clee Hill Branch branch annual service of remembrance will be held on Sunday November 9 at Clee Hill Village Hall at 6.30pm followed by refreshments at the Golden Cross in Clee Hill.

In Bishops Castle the annual remembrance parade and service will take place at Bishops Castle Church on Sunday at 11am. The procession leaves the

town hall at 10.45am.

Everyone is also welcome to join Royal British Legion at Bishops Castle War Memorial on Tuesday at 11am. Older children from Bishop’s Castle Primary School will be attending.
