A LUDLOW church has held an alternative party on Halloween.
The Elim Church in Lower Galdeford concentrated on traditional party games as an alternative to the gory imagery and trick or treating that has become commonplace at this time of year.
Jackie Lines, children and family pastor at the church, said this was a move against what she described as the ‘subtle occult influence’.
“For us as a church it’s about being part of the celebration but providing an alternative,” said Mrs Lines.
“We have all the sweets and the games and everything else.
“We want to steer children away from the more scary imagery. We don’t want them drawn into that.
“For some children it is a bit of fun. They dress up and want a few sweets but for others it becomes more than that and people are sometimes scared to open the door.
“Why as a culture do we want to scare people?”
