A GROUP of fruit enthusiasts from Ludlow are embarking on two weeks of activities in support of the damson.
They are campaigning to put the Shropshire Prune damson back on the culinary map and have organised special Damson Days.
To round up the fortnight on Thursday October 9 there will be a damson ‘anything’ competition that is open to professionals and home cooks.
Entries should be at the market by 10am and clearly labelled with a name and contact details.
Judging will take place thereafter and the winners will be announced at midday.
Several restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops in the Ludlow area will either be creating or featuring damson dishes on their menus.
There will be opportunities to offer tastings of damson products.
These are listed on a Damson Days leaflet that is available from the market, participating venues and the Tourist Information Centre.

The project is supported by Ludlow Slow Food group.
