A CHANCE meeting in a Tenbury pub has marked the way for 60 years of marriage for Ron and Vera Bevan.
They met in the Kings Head and two years later were married at St Mary’s Church in the town.
Apart from living in Dorset for 10 years Ron, aged 83, and Vera, 79, have spent their lives in Tenbury.
In fact, the couple now live in Berrington Road just two doors away from where Vera was born so the town is very much in her blood.
Ron, however, is a relative ‘outsider’ having been born in Leysters.
After they married Ron served until 1956 in the Royal Navy but after that the couple have both worked in and around Tenbury. In fact, Ron still works as a self- employed mole catcher as well as stewarding at Ludlow Racecourse.
“We remain very active and are well for our aged,” said Vera.
The couple have two daughters and five grand children.
