MINISTER for defence procurement and Ludlow MP Philip Dunne is pleased that schools will teach students about the work of the Armed Forces.

He has welcomed the launch of the British Armed Forces Learning Resource 2014, a resource which will be made available to all schools.

The resource has been developed to help children learn in subjects like history, English and citizenship for key stages one to four, as well as older pupils.

It aims to help teachers introduce students to the work of the Armed Forces in Britain and abroad, exploring their role, history, current operations and what it is like to work as part of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.

The resource includes background information, views and different perspectives from many longstanding members of the Armed Forces and includes lesson ideas, areas for discussion and links to other publications and information.

“I am delighted this Armed Forces Learning Resource will be made available to children in schools all over the UK,” said Philip Dunne.

“This information about our Armed Forces will help children learn about Britain’s proud history, and will enable teachers to understand the vital role that the Armed Forces have played in shaping the world we live in and why they still matter now and in the future.”
