LUDLOW Food Centre is to raise money to support a local children’s hospice.

The staff at Ludlow Food Centre have voted for Hope House to become their charity of the year 2014 to 2015 in order to help life limited children.

Hope House, based in Morda, near Oswestry, won with a landslide majority in this year’s vote and the business is hoping to do a lot of fundraising work throughout the year.

“Hope House is an amazing charity and hopefully we will have lots of opportunities to support them and raise awareness of the work they do,” said Tom Hunt, marketing manager at the Food Centre.

“We also hope the public will get involved and help us do this. At our recent family fun day we were really impressed with the money raised through simple games like hook-a-duck but we want to do more going forward.”

The Food Centre is hoping to fundraise through events and will have donation boxes in the shop, their cafe Ludlow Kitchen and Bromfield Post Office.

One of these events will be the Gloucester Old Spot Banquet taking place at 7.30pm tomorrow (Friday July 18). From each ticket sale £5 will go to Hope House as well as the profits from a charity raffle that will take place on the evening.

Hope House has helped children and young people since opening in 1995.

The charity aims to improve their short lives with respite care, home nursing and end of life care, while extending its care and support to the whole family from diagnosis, through the lifetime of the child and beyond. It offers sibling support and bereavement support and counselling, as well as the services of a social work team. It needs to raise £4.7 million to provide its services this year.
