A CONSULTATION is to take place today and tomorrow in Ludlow about a proposed supermarket development.

This involves building a supermarket and petrol station at Rocks Green, just outside Ludlow, off the A49.

The proposal is currently being worked on by Blackfriars Development Ltd on land commonly known as the Dun Cow.

A letter to residents, seen by The Advertiser, says: "The store would create in the region of 250 new local job, increase choice, and competition for local people and strengthen Ludlow's role as a retail destination.

"We believe that there are significant benefits to the local economy."

In the letter Simon Hoare, managing director of Community Connect which is working on behalf of Blackfriars Development Ltd, says: "Before a planning application is submitted to Shropshire Council we want to hear the views of the local community about the proposal and, to the end, we are holding a pre-submission planning consultation to put the plans before you and answer your questions."

The consultation takes place at the Rockspring Community Centre, on Sandford Road, tomorrow (Friday July 4) from 10am to 6pm and Saturday (July 5) between 10am and 3pm.

Members of the development team will be there to discuss the proposal in an informal environment.
