A GALLERY featuring the work of students at Ludlow College will be open until the close of the town’s arts festival.

The Adrian Jones Gallery at Ludlow College is open to visitors until Sunday (July 6) as part of Ludlow Fringe Festival Arts Trail.

Staff and students welcomed guests to the private view of this year’s summer exhibition to celebrate the work of students studying A Level photography, art and design, fine art, and graphics. The ‘Media Studies Oscars’ also featured during the evening with screenings of final project music videos.

Rhian Stevens and Keiran Martin both achieved student of the year awards for the outstanding work they have produced in graphics, fine art and photography.

“The projects that I have been working over the last two years have given me a lot of opportunities to experiment and explore different perspectives,” said Rhian Stevens, who is planning to go to the Winchester School of Art.

Principal Ian Peake greeted visitors and assistant principal Rachel Seddon handed out certificates for excellence in each specialism as well as awards for development.

The culmination of two year’s work, the show includes not only final pieces but also the in-depth research and idea development of each student’s specialism.

Many students are looking forward to continuing their artistic studies at university in degrees ranging from architecture to graphic design.

Kieran Martin is planning on studying Graphic Communication at Bath Spa University.

“I’m hoping to develop the professional skills that I will need for the graphic design industry, how to produce work that will appeal to clients and how to work independently,” he said.

“I’ve had brilliant teaching whilst at Ludlow College. They really couldn’t have done anything better. It’s been fantastic.”

The festival has enabled the students to showcase their work to a larger number of people.
