POST offices services in Craven Arms will in future be provided from a convenience store in the town.

Modernisation of Craven Arms Post Office, through a move into Spar Stores on Corvedale Road, has been welcomed by MP Philip Dunne.

Following a consultation with local Post Office users, the Craven Arms branch will be moved into Spar and updated to the new modern style of Post Office such as those now operating in Ludlow and Church Stretton.

“I know many local residents in Craven Arms will be sad to see the traditional Post Office close, but as many rely heavily on the services at their local Post Office branch it is good news that the Post Office is committing to new investment in the town,” said Philip Dunne.

“The new branch within Spar would be built as part of the new modern style of Post Office. This is part of an investment and support programme which will see half of the Post Office network converting to the new style of branches.

“Significantly extended opening hours and a more customer friendly provision of services will help sustain the town’s Post Office branch and make it more practical for use by local residents.”

Comments during the consultation period praised the service provided by staff at the current branch, and highlighted some concerns local users had with the new premises.

This information will be taken into account before finalisation of plans. Posters will be displayed to give users details of the move once plans are finalised, including the opening date for the new store.
