Cash for small rural schools

A NEW funding settlement will help small schools in isolated rural areas according to Ludlow MP Philip Dunne, Philip Dunne MP welcomed an announcement by the Department for Education of School funding reforms taking effect in April 2014 that will allow local authorities greater flexibility in providing additional funding for small schools in sparsely populated areas.

BLAZIN’ Fiddles bring the flavours of the highlands and islands to English venues in a rare foray south of the border this month, arriving in Ludlow on Friday, June 28 The Scottish six piece fiddle- driven band has recently undergone personnel changes and now boasts acclaimed contemporary fiddle players Jenna Reid, Bruce MacGregor, Allan Henderson and Iain Macfarlane, who are joined by Anna Massie on guitar/fiddle and Angus Lyon on keyboard. The band draws on each member’s individual inspirations and traditions which collectively have re-invigorated and re-energised the heart and soul of the band to create breathtaking performances.
