Hilary Ellis and Janet Bryan of Charlton Rise, Ludlow, say the minority will spoil hospital plan
8:00am Sunday 29th April 2012 in Letters
WE write in strong agreement of the sentiments contained in the letter from Judy Whitmarsh (Advertiser, April 12), regarding the misguided campaign to retain a surgery in the centre of Ludlow.
We would like to ask how the supporters of retaining a surgery in the town centre envisage the practicalities of working this proposal.
As patients are currently registered with one or other of the existing practices, and most are loyal to their GP, is the proposed inner town surgery to be manned by a doctor, nurse etc from each practice, so depleting the level of clinicians at the surgery adjacent to the new hospital?
How often is the town centre surgery to be open? Every day?
Twice a week?
How many people live in the town centre compared with the practice populations?
Will these same campaigners stand up and be counted if the plug is pulled on the newhospital?
Joyce Brand may be able to call upon the support of her wellknown daughter in this fight, however, it is the majority of people, young and old, that actually live in the area who benefit from the proposed new health facility, don’t let the minority spoil a wonderful opportunity for the majority.
