J Farley of Starstile Meadow, Ludlow, says walks are vital to maintain service
8:00am Sunday 22nd April 2012 in Letters
RECENTLY, the 500th walk organised by Susan Mc- Cormack to raise funds for the Citizens Advice Bureau set off from The Stagg Inn at Titley, led by Tom Carter.
Twenty nine walkers turned up, some of whom have been going with the group almost since it was founded, and the walk finished with a celebratory meal at The Stagg.
The walks were initiated by Susan and her late husband Niall in 1992, and more than £6,000 has been raised from voluntary donations to help support the work of the CAB in Ludlow.
In later years, some regular walkers have assisted Susan and Niall to lead the walks as Niall’s health faded. The CAB walks have become a regular feature of Ludlow life and are advertised in the Tourist Information Centre and Library.
They are open to anyone and often help newcomers and visitors to become familiar with the beautiful local countryside.
In times of Government cutbacks, the donations to the CAB are even more vital to maintain this essential service to the local community. A message of congratulations and thanks from the CAB was sent to Susan by its current chairman Linda Binns.
