When challenged, they refuse to back down

I READ with astonishment that a Mr Padwick, aged 76, had been fined by Herefordshire Council because his disabled Blue Badge had not been “properly displayed”.

This in the circumstances is a draconian penalty and surely a warning would have been appropriate.

The trouble is that many local authorities, hungry for income to pay for traffic wardens, do not give wardens any degree of latitude and always when challenged refuse to back down and pontificate, as in this case.

All Blue Badge holders are requested (not, note, required) to display their badge the right way round etc, etc.

I do not live in Hereford, nor have any knowledge of Mr Padwick but I like to think, and believe, that my local authority would take a more enlightened view.
