Banking crisis, what banking crisis?

A COUPLE of days ago I walked up into Ludlow with my shopping bags only to discover I had left my purse, containing cash, cards etc, at home.
I went into my bank and rather sheepishly asked whether there was any chance, as this was my local branch, that they could let me have some cash. since I had no cheque book, cards or ID or any sort of and I very rarely go into the bank, this seemed unlikely but worth a try. A couple of minutes later I was outside, with plenty of cash without any ID? Three cheers for our great little town.
