IN view of the economic collapse confronting our country, combined with the almost total opposition by parents and members of the local community, I strongly urge Shropshire County Council to abandon this ill-conceived proposal to close Lydbury North CE Primary School.

At a time when stability and maintenance of our established and successful institutions is of the essence, this is not the time to be embarking on grandiose, expensive and unpopular schemes, of unproven outcome.

Abandon this idiotic and deeply damaging decision and earn the gratitude, respect and thanks of the people, parents and progeny of Lydbury North, and so retain a tradition of excellence established for over 350 years.

Robin Woodbine Parish, Walcot Hall, Lydbury North.
