I APPRECIATE the need for houses for locals, but give it a bit of thought.
We don’t save and buy in the countryside to hope to be surrounded by new houses within a few years.
We save, work hard, and buy to enjoy.
We all have a right to privacy and we buy houses as individuals where we want to live and relax... is this another human rights discussion?
I would like to bring the Tenbury Wells readers’ attention to the destruction of a category 4b village.
In Newnham Bridge, planning has just been submitted for two areas, one which would consist of 10 dwellings in what was an orchard and the other which was referred to as open countryside for nine dwellings.
Footpaths run through these areas and the wildlife, including slow-worms, lizards and many different birds, live within the proposed areas.
This area is of natural beauty and ranges in open countryside and local fields which are being used for farming. A local landowner suggests this would benefit the area, but in fact, it would increase, if not double, the size of the village.
There are only four buses which run through the village, there are no play areas, no shops, no footpath, no jobs, and school buses at present stop on the main A456 to pick up local children and continue on the round robin.
Tenbury town is 3.5 miles from the village, and with the proposed 19 new houses this could mean an extra 38 cars on country lanes not built or ready for the extra flood of vehicles.
The suggestion is infilling of land, which with many areas being brownfield sites is again eating away at the countryside.
When does this stop?
We continue to build, build and build.
The local people are not taken into consideration, just the money-makers, not the loss of views from some properties which range from the 1960s to early 1900s.
Newnham Bridge is classified as a category 4b village and has not been earmarked until now for development, and the building would be detrimental to the village.
This application is contrary to South Worcestershire building plan, but let’s see.
