LUDLOW residents were disgusted to learn of the closure of Stretton Ward at Ludlow Hospital – with a week’s notice, and no public consultation at all. This is completely unacceptable.
The planned closure would leave only a single ward at Ludlow Hospital with inpatient beds. There has to be a fear that this is another step in running down our local hospital.
Under the ‘Future Fit’ proposals for NHS cuts, NHS bosses are set to call for the closure of the A&E and all medical beds and services at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
We’ve been promised that we will get ‘care closer to home’ in return. The ward closure at Ludlow Hospital shows that this is absolute nonsense.
It’s time to make a stand, and take the NHS back from the faceless bureaucrats who are destroying it. The NHS belongs to us, the public.
