PEOPLE opposed to the repeal of the Human Rights Act are clearly unaware of its serious failings.
Its existence is the reason the children of police officer Sharon Beshenivsky are without their mother. She was shot dead by Mustaf Jama who sought asylum in the UK but turned to a life of crime and was ordered to be deported, but successfully appealed claiming he would be harmed if returned to Somalia. Armed with a gun, he continued his life of crime. In the act of a robbery he shot WPC Beshenivsky and another police woman.
He discovered he was wanted by the police and escaped using the passport of a woman and wearing a niqab. He returned to his native Somalia. He was arrested there and is now serving life imprisonment here for the murder of WPC Beshenivsky.
