I WOULD like to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed to Green Party leader Natalie Bennett’s visit to south Shropshire on August 1.

Natalie was impressed with the dedication and energy of the groups she met and with their determination to improve the quality of life in Shropshire, especially for those suffering from cuts in public services and the policies of the coalition government that are leading to stress and worry for those on low income and social security benefits.

It is humbling to recognise the extent of work for social justice in the county and the determination to support vulnerable individuals and families, amply evidenced in the work of the South Shropshire Furniture Scheme, Shropshire Home-Start and the Community Larder and Advice Centre in Clun.

We are grateful too for the hospitality of the Ginger and Green Café in Church Stretton and the Unicorn Inn in Ludlow.
