I READ that Ludlow Town Council is concerned that another supermarket is planned for Rocks Green.

Town centre shopkeepers certainly suffer from such developments, so I suggest that any planning approval should contain a proviso that the property owners pay an annual sum to the council, ring-fenced, to subsidise ‘in town’ retail shops’ business rates.

Sadly, we hold out very little hope of a helpful response. Privatised train companies do not co-operate with other privatised rail companies.

This idea would enable high street shops to flourish and retain the diversity which we all wish for in our town centre.
