I feel I need to write to give a different perspective to the recent “rumpus” regarding local amateur groups and the use of the newly refurbished Regal.
It has been suggested previously in the Advertiser that the cost of putting on a performance is no longer within the reach of us locals.
Tenbury Town Band has now performed two highly successful concerts at the Regal and on both occasions had a completely full house. We made a good profit at both concerts and managed to give a considerable sum away to another local charity to further benefit the youth of the town.
It was clear things had to change in the way the Regal was run or we would lose this great facility. Yes I agree it was good to be able to have the day before to set up and the day after to clear away but it is clear that this can no longer happen and we must all adjust and get ourselves that bit more organized and professional.
It’s not that difficult.
The ticket sales from the box office have made the task of administration much easier and the additional advertising done by the Regal I’m sure has been a contributory factor to getting two packed houses.
I would urge all local groups not to cut their nose off to spite their face, and work with the trust to the advantage of both parties.
We are certainly looking forward to our Christmas concert, on Saturday December 14.
