THOUSANDS of people enjoy the view of Ludlow from Whitcliffe and the beautiful walk alongside the river but, sadly, few realise just how much work and effort goes into maintaining that view. The bulk of the work falls on a handful of volunteers from the Friends of Whitcliffe Common who put in many hours keeping paths clear and in good order.
This year we have been lent an enormous hand by local firm McConnels who have given freely of their time and sent one of their innovative radio-controlled tracked grass cutters on two days so far this year. In one day this week it completed grass cutting that would have taken our volunteers many days to do with a strimmer and hand implements.
As one of those volunteers it gives me great heart to see a local company wanting to get involved and helping locally.
Well done McConnels.
