PRIZE money of £200 and an impressive cup will be presented to the winners of the inaugural EBV class for bulls to be held at the beginning of the National Horned Hereford Show, held at Tenbury Wells Agricultural Show on August 3.
It is aimed at highlighting the improvements made within the breed and the influence that Hereford cattle can have on production costs through the commercial beef industry.
It offers a great opportunity to get up close to some tremendous cattle and see how the breed has responded to the modern commercial needs.
The class will be judged from a commercial interest, after which the EBVs of each animal will be taken into consideration before the final order is made.
This new class will compliment a Superior Carcase Sire Scheme operated by the Hereford Cattle Society.
The Scheme, launched in 2010, is designed to specifically assist commercial producers in the selection of sires able to transmit improved carcase traits to their progeny and the society offers up to £500 to purchasers of eligible bulls.
