CLEOBURY Country Farmers Market will be the place to meet local producers who have raised, grown or made their products.

The first market of the year takes place later this month in and around St Mary’s Church in the centre of Cleobury Mortimer on April 20.

There is free car parking for shoppers in Cleobury Mortimer, at any one of the three car parks just off the High Street.

As well as the market there will be demonstrations during the morning outside the church, all with a yellow “spring” theme.

Cleobury Brass Band will play and Clog Dancers will perform on the day.

The market will embrace the already strong food led retailing traditions of the town, with emphasis on locally sourced quality food and drink.

All produce will be grown or made within a 35 mile radius of Cleobury Mortimer, including rare breed meats, breads and cakes produced by local family bakers, homemade pies, seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables, speciality cheeses and olives, a variety of naturally made jams and chutneys, English wines, apple brandy, ciders and award winning beers.

There will be plenty to tempt gardeners, including the Cottage Herbery, a family run specialist plant nursery of fering herbs, scented foliage, cottage garden favourites and unusual edibles.

Clare Todd, the manager of The Cleobury Country Centre, said: "Cleobury Country Ltd has always strived to support and grow the local rural economy and the Farmers Markets can bring together local producers and customers, whilst supporting the local retailers on the High Street."

The market will return every third Saturday of the month between April and October, starting at 9am and finishing at noon.
