MANCHESTER United have the da Silvas while Australia had the Waughs – and now it seems we might have some sporting twins closer to home.

Katie and Becky Goodwin, who go to Wigmore High School, are both making a name for themselves in the horse riding world.

Becky has already qualified for the Horse of the Year Show at Birmingham’s NEC in October, where she will ride Finbar, a white pony she rode to success at a championships at Hickstead, West Sussex.

Katie is also hopeful of qualifying for the Horse of the Year Show and came second in a competition at the National Welsh Show.

However, they both say there is no sibling rivalry.

Becky said: “We have competed against each other, but we are always pleased if the other one wins and the other one doesn’t.”

The 15-year-olds, from Easthampton, near Shobdon, have two ponies each.

They first got in the saddle when they were three and have been riding competitively for the past two years.

Mum Annaly, who used to ride herself, said she is proud her daughters’ hard work is starting to pay off.

“It hasn’t happened overnight, but it is very rewarding to see them doing well,”

she said.
