A SMALL group of people from Bishop's Castle's twin town in Normandy came to Shropshire recently to meet up with their English friends.
It is now 15 years since the link was established between St Marcel and Bishop's Castle and the English twinning committee entertained 30 people, both English and French at a Sunday lunch in the Three Tuns.
The following day the mayor of Bishop's Castle, Jane Carroll hosted a tea party in the Town Hall and she accepted a gift of Normandy food and drink delicacies from the visitors.
The English hosts were sad to learn that Marie-Jo Volpatti, wife of the mayor of St Marcel and a founder member of the original link between schools in St Marcel and Bishop's Castle had died a few weeks before.
