THE Community College in Bishop's Castle celebrated World Book Day with staff and students dressing up as characters from their favourite books.

Whilst members of the English department and the library adopted the theme of Harry Potter, there were many other very creative and homemade costumes which proved to be highly entertaining.

Staff and students donated £1 to participate in the day and those proceeds will be donated to the Harry Johnson Trust which supports local children receiving treatment for cancer.

Additional fundraising activities included an inter house book quiz and a sale of cakes and books at lunchtime, proceeds from which will be shared between Book Aid International and the Community College Library.
