ON the last evening of the 'Three Castles, Three Breweries and Four Walks' tour of 61 miles, John Jones and the Reluctant Ramblers played to a full house in the Assembly Rooms, Presteigne having just completed a 19 mile walk from Bishop's Castle to Presteigne. The event was a fund-raiser for St Michael's, part of Colin Kirkby's fundraising programme as Mayor of Presteigne 2015-2016. Colin said "A magnificent total of £1100 was raised thanks to the generosity of all concerned". The walk had started four days previously in Aymestrey, walking to Ludlow Castle, then onto Stokesay Castle and finally to Bishop's Castle. Over thirty people then set off from Bishop's Castle to finish in Presteigne.

In September John and Colin will both be off again on their next fundraising walk called the 'Hereford 100'. John Jones and his Oysterband will be playing on the Saturday night at the Bromyard Folk festival and on Sunday the two will set off again and will walk 18 miles from Bromyard to Malvern. Then over the next week the walk goes to Ledbury, Hereford, Docklow, Yarpole, Leintwardine and the final walk is part of the Kington Walking Festival from Leintwardine to Kington. Somewhere on this walk the Reluctant Ramblers will reach their 1000th mile of walking over the last seven years.
