AT the recent Knighton Community Centre Management committee AGM the chairman Karen Plant gave her annual report. In the report she again appealed for more volunteers to come forward to help in the day to day running of the centre and for more committee members. Her second appeal was granted with two new committee members joining on the night. In her report Karen outlined all the work that was due to be carried at the centre to create a community hub in the next years once funding for the project is secured. She also told everyone about all the activities that have gone on in the centre during the last year including cookery, Welsh and art classes, all-day courses, amateur dramatics, live music, talent shows, YFC concerts, music workshops, flicks in the sticks, mothers and toddlers, craft workshops, private parties, fundraising parties, dances, church fun day, coffee mornings, formal dinners and balls, civic lunches, wedding receptions, bingo nights, community carols, WI show, town show and carnival, PCC cuts consultation day. Regular event include the community market, karate classes, badminton, the leg club, and lots more. All these events are a vital to the continuing success of the centre but as Karen pointed out it takes a hard working management committee along with their volunteers and the team of cleaners that make sure all these events can take place.
