AFTER 30 years in the bicycle industry, Liz Colebrook, who lives in Bishop's Castle, took the bold leap to launch her own bespoke frame building business in January. She recently exhibited for the first time at 'Bespoked' the UK's only hand built bicycle show in Bristol, trading as Beaumont Bicycle. Liz was delighted to win one of the coveted prize rosettes for 'outstanding design'. "I showed two complete builds at Bristol," she said. "One was a handbuilt step-through cycle for a lady poet in York. The bicycle featured a poem on one side and had lovely low gears. It was fully equipped to carry poetry books as well as groceries. The other bike in contrast was built for a man who just wanted to take himself off for a pootle on a light and comfy bike with just a small lock, a waterproof and his wallet."

This year Liz is busy building for other customers from Manchester to Hamburg, as well as working for celebrated frame maker Trevor Jarvis building Flying Gate frames for customers as far away as Finland and China. Look on beaumontbicycle.com for more information or call 01588 638867.
