THE Shropshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs is gearing up for it's main summer events of 2016, and is looking forward to the annual County Rally Field Day. April 24 will see members from across the county flock to the Shropshire County Showground in Shrewsbury to participate in a range of activities and competitions. The voluntary committee, which this year is headed up by Joe Williams (24) from Brown Clee, have organised a vast range of competitions that will be kicked off by fence erecting. The day will begin at 10am and will see members from Shropshire's 18 clubs partake in competitions such as welding, farm business development, cookery and cake decorating, with the final event of the day kicking off at 1.30pm, the highly anticipated tug of war contest. Based on the fierce competition from last year's event, it can be guaranteed that clubs have been training hard with the highlight of the day sure to be an entertaining watch for all those attending. Members, family, friends and general public are all invited along to attend, with the committee offering refreshments and a barbecue.

This year, FBC Manby Bowdler is kindly sponsoring the County Rally. The Shropshire based company is a fantastic supporter of the rural youth organisation, and it is with great thanks they have extended their sponsorship to the 2016 event.

Joe explains that not only do they support the committee to put on a fun filled day for guests, but also provide further opportunities for members aged 12 to 26 to advance their skill set and experience. "Offering the chance for members to improve life skills such as welding, safety on the farm and business development is invaluable. Experiences such as these can be transferable to everyday life and help with understanding and practice in jobs." Shropshire YFC also has five main sponsors whose continued support is greatly received by the rural organisation; Pickstocks Telford, Alltech E-CO2, Shropshire Farm Vets, Turners Furniture, and Hatchers Solicitors.

The field day is in preparation for the annual Shropshire Rally, which will be hosted on June 25, at The Cave Farm, Bridgnorth, WV16 6AQ. For more information about the event, or about Shropshire YFC, visit sfyfc.org.uk or call 01743 442880.
