AN exhibition of pastels and paintings by Mary Griffin, including 'a nice cup of tea', is showing at the Silk Top Hat Gallery until April 16, also showing with 'paper, paint, flax and clay': abstract paintings by Rae Harrison, handwoven linen by Alison Morton, and ceramics by Andrew Crouch.
This is Mary Griffin's third solo show at the Silk Top Hat Gallery. Born and educated in Birmingham she studied art in Walsall and Birmingham. She has taught in Kettering and Lichfield. She was elected a member of the Birmingham Pastel Society in 1998 and a member of the R.B.S.A. in 2001. She was awarded first prize by the Birmingham and Midlands Pastel Society in 2003, the first prize by the RBSA in 2006 and a trophy for Staffordshire Open Studios in 2006. In 2010 she had a solo exhibition at Derby Cathedral.
