EASTER event and 'the garden' art exhibition at Aardvark Books will celebrate nature and wildlife.

The garden: an exhibition March 25-April 10; and The Aardvark Easter garden event, Saturday 10am-4pm

To celebrate the year of the English garden 2016, Aardvark Books opens a group exhibition tomorrow, with four artists who all examine different aspects of gardens and our relationship to them.

For Herefordshire-born young artist Holly Brookes, (hollybrookesart.co.uk/) winner of the DSWF Young Wildlife Artist of the Year 2015, also recently featured on BBC's Country File, gardens are wild places of anarchy and savage beauty. Her work is meticulously rendered and teems with plants and wildlife.

Lottie O'Leary's harmonious stone carvings offer a vision of the transcendent. With more than a nod to medieval and classical art, her work brings texture and form to the exhibition. stonecarving.co.uk/

For ceramic artist Garry Jones (garry-jones.co.uk/) the garden world is filled with lawless, playful animal spirits. His clay sculptures of rabbits, hares, dogs and other creatures are witty, inventive and filled with life.

Finally, Tony Hall's large renaissance-inspired garden pots and beautiful ceramics bring us back to a garden of skill and order. (castlehillpottery.blogspot.co.uk/)

To accompany these original artworks, we are showing three large 19th Century floral hangings, created to line a Rajput ceremonial marriage tent. Over four metres long, they bring colour and movement to the exhibition and take us to gardens beyond our shores.

Aardvark Easter event, Saturday 10am-4pm, free entry.
