MAINSTONE WI celebrated the 100th anniversary of the National Federation of Women's Institutes on August 11. The Mainstone group has over 30 members and is pleased to have welcomed a number of new faces. Mainstone is a tiny village in the Shropshire Hills, about five miles from Bishops Castle.

On January 12, Julia Rogers gave us an insightful talk about midwifery in Kenya - some of the challenges faced and the good work that is going on. It made us realise how lucky we are in comparison! Our next meeting on February 9, features our famous 'Four Corners', whereby we all get to experience four different craft techniques - great fun, so do feel free to come along to Mainstone Village Hall for 7.30pm. We have a varied schedule of talks and visits at each of our monthly meetings, so don't miss out. Call 01588 638739 for more information.
