HOBSONS Brewery has topped 70 awards following the recent Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Regional Beer of the Year Competition.

An impressive total of four awards were added to the tally of honours for the Shropshire brewer, based in Cleobury Mortimer who picked up three silver and a bronze award. Hobsons dominated the Golden Ales category claiming silver and bronze certificates for its popular Town Crier and Twisted Spire ales.

Hobsons’ most decorated beer, Mild, picked up a silver award in the Mild category. This beer alone has won 19 awards since it was first brewed in 2002 including the prestigious Champion Beer of Britain award in 2007. One of Hobsons top selling bottles "Old Henry" also collected a silver award in the Real Ales in a bottle category.

The awards are the outcome of the CAMRA members voting for their favourite beers. The top six beers in each category are selected for regional judging. The various categories of beer are blind tasted by a panel of experts at the different beer festivals and the results collated for the overall CAMRA West Midlands Beer of the Year Competition.

"These awards really underline Hobsons continued success and dedication. Hobsons' commitment to using the finest local ingredients produces both cask ales and bottled real ales of a high standard in flavour and freshness," said Dave Haddon, CAMRA Brewery Liaison Officer

"Great products start with great ingredients and our award-winning beers are all brewed with locally grown Maris Otter malting barley," said founder Nick Davis.

"Over the past five years we have been championing a programme to develop a network of local farmers to grow this premium barley for us. The majority of our hops are also grown within seven miles of the brewery.

"This close link with our supply chain ensures we source the best. Our brewers are passionate about their craft and to receive this string of awards is further testament to their skill."
