CLEOBURY Mortimer will glow in the dark as people from the town turn out to support the family of a sick young boy.

There will be a ‘glow run’ in the town to raise money for the family of leukaemia victim Jack Edwards who is having treatment in Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

It will also raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House that provides accommodation near the hospital for the families of sick children.

People will run or walk five kilometres through the town carrying glow sticks.

Local businesses including Kolourkraft that has printed T-Shirts and merchandise at cost are supporting the run that will start and finish at the Cleobury Mortimer Social Club. Ludlow Classic Car Club will mark the route and act as marshals.

People have to register to take part at a cost of £20 and this has to be completed by January 15 at the Social Club. It is hoped that up to 200 people will take part.

Lindsey Jones, a Zumba instructor, will lead a warm up before the run starts at 6.30 pm on Friday, January 29.

Jack Edwards, from Cleobury Mortimer, was first diagnosed with leukaemia three years ago and has been undergoing treatment. He was doing well but had a serious relapse before Christmas and will now need a bone marrow transplant.
