BISHOP'S Castle Town Council is working with Shropshire Council to give people in the town a treat next Tuesday (August 18).

They will hold an afternoon of fun at The Playing Fields in the town. It will take place on from 3pm to 7pm.

"We are hoping for good weather so that the rounders and children's activities can take place,” said Karen Bavastock, the mayor of Bishop's Castle.

“Anyone is welcome and there will be no charge for the afternoon’s activities.

“We are, however, planning to have refreshments for which there will be a charge.

“A local mum approached us with the idea and we have been able to get advice and support from the staff at Shropshire Council about setting up the event - Mathew Meade has been really helpful."

“In addition Jeremy Hall will be bringing his bicycles along with his Bike for Health Group which should be interesting. We are awaiting confirmation on more activities to make it a good session.”

All children attending the event will have to be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The event will not take place if the weather is bad and if cancellation is necessary this will be announced on the Bishop's Castle Town Council Facebook site.
