ELTON Hall near Ludlow opened its door for a fete in aid of the local St Mary’s Church.
Among the activities in this historic building and grounds was the chance for adults to throw sponges at each other.
Elton Hall was remodelled in the 1760s from a half timbered core.
It sits in extensive landscaped grounds and was home between 1791 and 1808 to the horticulturalist Andrew Thomas Knight who bred a variety of different fruit trees.
