TWELVE-year-old Jodie Angell is to be this year’s carnival queen at Bishop's Castle Carnival while eight years old Aoife Ann Houghton will be the carnival princess.

Jodie, who lives with her mum and dad at Barlow Home Farm, Hopesay, near Craven Arms, currently attends the Bishop's Castle Community College.

“I am working hard at school to achieve the very best grades I can so that I stand the best chance possible of being successful in the career that I choose,” said Jodie.

Apart from her studies she works hard on the farm helping her dad with their cattle herd. But for relaxation she enjoys being with her family, the cinema and shopping.

Aoife Houghton lives in Bishop's Castle with her mother and sisters and attends the local primary school.

She has a reputation for always smiling, being a model pupil and having a polite nature.

Aoife is learning to play violin, but also enjoys sports including horse riding and swimming.

Gemma Cartwright who took the title in 2014 will be on hand to crown this year’s queen.
