WISTANSTOW CHALLENGE WALK - This annual walk was once again a great success this year. The full distance was 26 miles. Walkers and runners came from all over the country, as far away as Milton Keynes and Salisbury, with one walker from Belgium. The first male runner back was Clive Richard from Telford and the first lady was Lisa Garside from Shrewsbury. Around £1,200 was raised for local good causes and The Firefighters’ Charity. All who were involved are sincerely thanked. Next year’s event will be on September 14.

HARVEST SUPPERS - In aid of Stokesay and Halford churches at the community centre tomorrow (Friday), 7pm for 7.30pm. Home made hot supper and puddings! Tea, coffee and raffle. Admission £7, children £3.50.

LINK ROMANIA - Remember the shoebox appeal. Thanks go to people who have already donated. The closing date is November 2. Pick up a leaflet first from the supermarket, Harry Tuffins, Cyril Bason’s or 26 Shrewsbury Road and then please deliver the shoeboxes to those places.

FARMERS’ MARKET WEEKEND - On Saturday at The Discovery Centre Craven Arms local goods of all kinds.

Don’t miss it. Also at the same time there is a councillors’ surgery (both reps from town and Shrewsbury councils) based in the cafe. At the Pilgrim Centre there is the usual coffee morning from 10am until 12pm, in aid of Stokesay Church.

SUNSHINE MAGIC AND DISCO - Onibury Village Hall, Saturday, 7pm til late. £10 a ticket including supper - come and enjoy a night with Sonny Pennington, an award winning magician who has performed all over the UK. Finish the evening with a disco. For tickets, call 01584 861461.

GLIMPSES OF NATURAL DELIGHT - Exhibition by Helen Worrell at the Discovery Centre until October 21; featuring the countryside around south Shropshire.

COST OF ‘CARE’ - Wistanstow Over 60s invite you to an informal talk by Nicola Pearce of Wace Morgan Solicitors on funding long-term care of the elderly and related matters, including powers of attorney. This will be of particular interest to anyone with elderly relatives, but will also help younger people plan for their future.

Come to the Greene room (annexe to Wistanstow village hall) on November 4 at 2pm. Refreshments will be provided.

EXERCISE - Hula Hoop exercise classes for adults every Thursday 7.30-8.30pm.
