HISTORY GROUP - The Craven Arms and
District History Group have their next
meeting at The Discovery Centre on
Wednesday at 7pm. Dave Evans of Clun
will give an illustrated talk on Early
Craven Arms, using new material in the
first of two talks he will be giving the
group by popular request. All welcome,

DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP - Next
meeting is on Wednesday at Millmead,
2pm local artist Carol Bowen and Gordon
Bailey will be there with many varied
hand-crafted items. Light refreshments
and a draw, all for £1. It has been
announced that the recent sponsored
walk from the Discovery Centre raised
approximately £1500 for Diabetes
Research. All those helping and
participating are thanked warmly.
DISCOVERY CENTRE ACTIVITIES - For
children. Purple Prickles and Poisonous
Warts from Monday to Friday, August 3,
and Monday to Friday, August 20-24.
Take part in a nut and spoon race, hunt
the owls, pin the tail on the fox and play
snakes and ladders. Create your own
pizza to cook in a stone oven and enjoy
popcorn cooked on a campfire from
Monday to Friday, August 6-10 and

2.30pm, for three to 11 year olds £3 per

ABATTOIR RELOCATION - The proposed
multi million pound relocation plans are
expected to bring a substantial number
of jobs to the town, if there is support
from the local people. It is proposed to
move the abattoir from the present
unsatisfactory and unpopular site in the
centre of the town to one at Newington
Farm, with room for expansion over the
coming years. Please support these plans
in any way you can.
SUMMER HOLIDAY CLUB - A
programme of activities has been
arranged for the summer months at the
Community Centre Craven Arms for
children aged two to 11 years, all day or

Rectory Hopesay near Craven Arms to
raise funds for the church. Saturday
August 4, 2pm - 6 pm. Stalls, cakes,
plants, produce books DVDs hand- made
goods and soft toys, white elephant
games tombola raffle. A children’s dance
troupe will perform. In the event of wet
weather, it will be held in the Aston on
Clun Village Hall.
