THE first Flicks in the Sticks film is to be shown at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre this April.

After securing LEADER funding for developing the offer of their exhibition, the rotunda (where the balloon film used to be) was refurbished to include a levelled floor, a top of the range projector and a new cinema screen.

On Saturday, April 21, the centre's first film showing will be COCO (PG) where aspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer.

Tickets cost £5 per adult, £3 per child and £15 per family (two adults, three children). The film will start at 5.30pm and special refreshments will be available from 4.30pm including hot dogs and chips, popcorn and ice creams as well as a licensed bar. There will also be COCO crafts available.

For advance tickets, contact the centre on 01588 676060 or pop in to see a member of the front desk team.

The centre will also be showing Peter Rabbit in June, exact date to be confirmed.

Jade Marriott-Lodge, marketing and development manager at the centre says, "We are very excited to be putting on our first film and we're pleased we can offer this in the local community. We originally planned to show Peter Rabbit first but we had such a great response that we decided to show another family film whilst we wait for its release. We are also hoping to be able to offer a wider range of films to suit all audiences in the future."
