THE English love a ‘nice cup of tea’ and that is just what new tea rooms near Craven Arms are determined to provide.

Ludlow MP Philip Dunne was on hand for the official opening of a new tea room at Stokesay Castle, near Craven Arms.

Forming part of significant investment at the castle, English Heritage has converted Stokesay Cottage, which stands by the entrance to the castle grounds, into a new tea room for visitors.

The tea room will offer locally sourced produce, with an emphasis on traditional Shropshire fare, including Fidget Pie and Shropshire Blue cheese.

“I am delighted English Heritage are investing in south Shropshire and was pleased to visit the new tea room at Stokesay Castle, which will make an even better experience for the near 50,000 visitors who come to the Castle each year,” said Philip Dunne.

“This further enhances South Shropshire’s reputation as a wonderful place to visit, with great history, culture and local produce.”
