PLANNERS have thrown out a scheme for a poultry unit at a farm near Craven Arms.
The southern area planning committee of Shropshire Council went against the recommendation of officers in refusing the application for Heath Farm at Hopton Heath.
A scheme for four poultry units, feed bins and a biomass power plant had been recommended for approval by experts from Shropshire Council planning department.
But the committee went against this because they considered the scheme was a large scale development in a rural area and that the economic benefits would be outweighed by the potential damage of tourism.
Planners were also concerned about the risk of pollution to the catchment of the River Clun.
