THERE is a weekend of nature discovery in Craven Arms this weekend.

To mark the arrival of the spring equinox there will be two days of nature activities at the Discovery Centre.

The big event of the weekend is on Sunday morning when Stuart Edmonds from the Shropshire Mammal Group will lead a walk starting at 10am and lasting an hour-and-a- half.

There will also be a chance to look at some wildlife film. This costs £3.50 and as demand is likely to be high should be booked in advance.

The activities will include helping young people to make a nest box with all of the materials provided for just £7. This will happen between 10.30am and 11am on Saturday.

One of the most important skills in animal identification is recognising different footprints and there will be the chance to make plaster casts of different animal tracks between 11.30am and 1pm on Saturday costing £1.

On Sunday from 2pm to 3.30pm there will be an extended session of ‘animal traces’ aimed at children between five and 11 costing £3.50.

There will be pond dipping between 1.30pm and 3pm on Saturday and from 11.30am and 1pm on Sunday aimed at children between five and 11 years and costing £3.50.

Children taking part in any of the events must be accompanied by an adult.
