LES Price has a passion for making gypsy caravans.
The 76-year-old from Craven Arms was asked by his wife to try and find one that could act as a summer house.
But after searching he found that it was hard to find one in good condition and those that were up to scratch were horrendously expensive.
So using a set of track wheels and a chassis he set about making his own which has turned itself into a comfortable home-from-home even with sleeping accommodation for two people.
It was so popular that he has now made a second smaller version.
“I have quite a bit of experience of the gypsy caravans and have been involved in painting some of them in my work,” said Les.
“The caravans that I have made comprises of plywood and canvas. They could not be used for touring but are fun to have in the garden and are great for children to play in.”
Using his DIY and professional skills from his workshop in the garden Les is now becoming quite adept at making the attractive vans but he says that it is a hobby and not something that he would want to do professionally.
Born in Ludlow and from a family that was connected with the former Price’s Ironmongers in the town he moved to Craven Arms in 1946.
Mr Price still works as a signwriter although he intends retiring at the end of January.
“I have tried retiring twice already, first time when I was 65 and again when I was 70 so I am hoping that this is third time lucky,” he added.
When the days start to lengthen he will be in the workshop and has not ruled out making a third gypsy caravan.
