FIRE chiefs are calling for vigilance after a series of arson attacks at a beauty spot near Cleobury.
They are warning that lives are being put at risk with crews being potentially diverted from more serious incidents.
Firefighters have attended nine fires around the Catherton Common area, in the past six weeks.
The fires have occurred between August 1 and September 13 when crews from Cleobury Mortimer, Ludlow, Bewdley and Tenbury Wells attended.
The Ludlow and Tenbury areas are served by part-time retained firefighters and the service has experienced problems in recruiting crew members, which has resulted in some already stretched stations being below their full complement.
Anyone with information can call the fire and rescue service on 01743 260200 or police on 0300 333 3000.
